Our Practice

Dr. Ghaffari is a "Physiatrist" whose specialty is in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). A physiatrist is specially trained in the treatment of a wide range of problems that touch upon all the major systems in the body. These physicians focus on restoring function and coordinating the long-term rehabilitation of patients.

At Emory University School of Medicine, in Atlanta, Dr. Ghaffari studied Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with concentration on spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, geriatrics, stroke, sports medicine, amputations, neurologic disorders, cancer pain, multiple sclerosis and interventional spine procedures. He has utilized electromyography studies, botox injections for tight muscles and intrathecal baclofen trials for severe spasticity. Affiliated training institutions included Shepherd Center, Scottish Rite, Emory Orthopedic and Spine Center, Wesley Woods and the Atlanta VA hospital. In addition to working as an Occupational Health physician, he has successfully performed lumbar interventional spinal procedures, chemical neurolysis with phenol, intra-articular steroid injections, Baclofen pump trials, trigger point injections and EMG/NCS.

Dr. Ghaffari has a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology from Cleveland State University, in Cleveland, Ohio. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Ohio University of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio in 2004. In June 2005, he completed his Internal Medicine internship at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. In June 2008, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Emory University. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is tri-lingual and in addition to English speaks Spanish and Farsi.

Dr. Ghaffari is the rehab director of multiple rehab facilities and works with highly trained and exceptionally talented staff. This facilities are both state-of the-art and aesthetically pleasing. Dr. Ghaffari is devoted to the highest quality of patient care.

Dr. Ghaffari says, "The rehab team will be devoted in incorporating family members into the treatment plans for the patient recovering from a catastrophic medical condition to regain the function and enjoyment of activities that they cherished prior to their illness." He believes that "everyone deserves a chance to become inspired to learn to take care of themselves and to get back into the community."
